![]() ![]() He had a strong faith,” said June Lindner. “I am sure Roger would like us to know that he is in heaven with his savior, Jesus Christ. He was never in a hurry to leave – he was always there for anyone. Roger didn’t just help people with mechanical issues, he talked with us, cared about us, and developed meaningful relationships with others. After a brief stop at Beekman’s Ice Cream, Roger decided to do the loop again in case others needed help. Three of our team members rode the century loop with Roger on RAGBRAI last year. Then Roger steamed ahead to join the rest of the team. One of our members was having a hard time, and Roger stayed with him until the member was able to safely get a ride home. Just a couple weeks before RAGBRAI, the Texas team was doing a 77-mile training ride. He would do this back and forth the entire ride, helping folks, and putting in lots of extra miles. On team rides, he was the one of the strongest riders, but he always floated to the back to ride with the slowest riders for a while, then would book to the front to see if anyone needed help along the way. Everyone who knew Roger has beautiful memories of him. ![]() We’re not sure exactly what happened, but he was doing one of his favorite activities, riding with his beloved Texas team. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the loss of fellow rider, Christian, servant leader, loving husband and father, Roger Heard. ![]()
